How to use tags

Use words or short phrases to categorise your Moblog posts. Simple, easy to remember, tags are usually the best. Tags can be used to collect your own images (eg: air), or to join in with the latest bit of creative play (eg: jump).

Common tagging errors include:

  • Use of non-descriptive words: "my, holiday, in, Cardiff, with, Gerald, and, the, dog" isn't as good as "holiday, Cardiff, Gerald, dog".
  • Too specific: "Walking through the snow on a moonlit night in the Lake District" will usually only refer to a single post (unless you do that a lot). "Walking, snow, moonlight, Lake District" might be better here.

Tags can be added via the edit page for each post, or can automatically be included from your email/MMS/SMS. To have tags added automatically, use the following formatting:

This is your message text, at the start of your email message. To let the system know you are posting tags, add the following at the end of your message  tags="jam, cream, high tea"

This example would have the tags "jam", "cream" and "high tea" associated with it. The text containing the tags is removed from the message, and the tags stored in the database - they will later be shown as links on the post itself. For the technically minded, your tags will also be exposed as item categories in your moblog's RSS feed.
